For as long as I can remember, the word “event” has always made me feel giddy with life inside.
Attending events gives me a natural high, the lights, the people, the decor, the menu. These are all things I appreciate when planning or participating in an event.
The online dictionary defines the word event as,
“a thing that happens, especially one of importance.”
Events, to me, no matter what the reason are the best way to celebrate the things and people that matter most to us. If someone took the time and effort to plan and put together an event, you better believe it’s pretty special.
Here are 7 reasons I personally love planning + promoting events
1. Events bring people together. This is the number one reason I am fascinated by the event industry. This is why I love supporting and encouraging entrepreneurs to plan, promote, and producing events. Whether it’s a workshop, a fundraiser, a conference, or a birthday party, events have a way of fulfilling our basic human need to connect and belong. Events, when done right, bring people together who have something in common, or at the very least connect us with people who align with our personal values and vision. Being around like-minded people who “get us,” we can’t help but feel good, get inspired and extend kindness.
2. Events are fun, especially if there’s a theme, and people play along. If you’ve ever been to Comic Con or Disneyland in October, you know what I’m talking about here. To add to my first point, events that have a common theme where attendees are encouraged to play along by dressing up, participating in games, or contests can really add to the fun factor, and perhaps be the reason why attendees will remember your event for the rest of their lives. Events are about the people, and the experiences those people have. When you create an environment where people are free to have fun while connecting, you’ll not only be responsible for sparking new relationships and collaborations, you’ll also have a better chance of getting people to take inspired action whether it’s making a purchase or giving a donation.
3. Events can be so inspiring, and have the ability to spark passion and creativity. Just like well planned events can help build new relationships, events have the same power to inspire people in a variety of ways. When an attendee can walk away feeling like they can take on the world, your event played a part in that. Attendees can be inspired through conversations, thoughtful speakers, visual and design elements, as well as the service provided. Your event has the capacity to raise thousands of dollars for a worthy cause, or birth the next influential speaker because you provided a platform. Your event can make a difference in someone’s life, and that’s a huge thing to celebrate.
4. Events are the perfect place to learn something new. I’m a big advocate for lifelong learning. I believe events offer so many teaching moments. I enjoy planning educational events where speakers come out and share their expertise bringing fresh perspective to different concepts. Hosting educational events also offer the flexibility to cater to a variety of learning styles.
5. Events bring visions to life, and often change lives, too. Many entrepreneurs I’ve worked with have a dream of reaching more people. It’s amazing how strong and passionate their visions are. When you believe in something bigger than yourself and know in your heart that you want to share it from the rooftops, hosting events is the perfect way to stretch yourself, expand your reach and impact many people.
6. Events have music, and where there’s music there’s dancing. Need I say more? At least for me. I don’t know about you, but I love dancing. Music, and dancing, in my eyes are the ultimate universal language. When a song comes on that everybody knows, your event can turn into a total fun fest unexpectedly, and experiences like this create more connection! Music can be a catalyst for guests to take action.
7. Events are beautiful sentiments where memories, friendships and commitments are created. Events, whether for business or pleasure, are special. People put their heart and soul; often their blood, sweat and tears into planning gatherings to ensure their message comes across the way they envisioned. To ensure their guests are blown away and catered to. To raise money for a new project or cause. Why? Because it’s something they believe in, love or care a lot about. Events take a lot of detailed planning and hard work. Often, seeing the event come to fruition, watching people connect in one place because of your vision, is the reward.
These are only a few reasons why I personally love events and continue to encourage entrepreneurs and organizations to host them. There truly is something magical about events and yours is no exception.

I am a bit of the opposite of you. I do love coming up with the ideas and being creative. I like the idea of seeing people. However, I never see it through to plan events. I think if I focused on the more fun aspect like you do, I might find better success as it ☺️
Hi, Jen! Thanks for stopping by. Yes, focus on the fun and how you can bring that element to your event. I bet you’d have an amazing event with all your ideas. Start with one and see where it goes from there. You never know until you try.
