9 Self-Care Tips for Entrepreneurs

As an entrepreneur, I’m willing to bet you’re living your best life, or at least getting very close to it. Am I right?

I mean, you’ve created something awesome from your unique gifts and life experiences to help others find a solution to their problems. You’re doing what you love and you’re getting paid for it.

Listen, although the life of an entrepreneur can be exciting, it can also become overwhelming. And if we don’t take time to focus on our own personal care, needs, desires we end up burning out.

That’s why I’m sharing 9 ways practical ways entrepreneurs can simply incorporate self-care into their daily lives. Ready? Let’s go!

Keep good habits. Creating a routine that works for me and sticking to it has helped me to stay on track. Did it take a while to develop this habit? You better believe it. I’m not perfect, and it’s something I’m working on. The important thing is that you do what works for you.

I’ve also noticed a huge difference in my body, energy, and attitude when I eat healthy foods. What we put in our bodies is so important. It plays a big part in how we feel overall.

Other good habits include waking up early and making sure you carve time out for a good workout. Plan to move throughout the day, step away from your desk, take a walk while you’re on a call, or join a gym for accountability and a regular workout schedule. I’m about to be a proud Fit-Bassador of  Hard Core Fitness in Miramar.

Keep good company. My parents always used to tell me to be careful who I hung around, but they never told me why. Now that I’m older, I understand that when you surround yourself with positive and successful people, you become a lot more like them. The same is true when you hang around the Negative Nelly’s and Debbie Downers. You are the company you keep, so make sure that your relationships are serving you well, and you also have the opportunity to add value to their lives.

Keep a good schedule. Schedule ME TIME in your calendar. If it’s not on my mobile or physical calendar, I tend to forget. I will admit there are times when I push my self-care appointments on the calendar to a later date, only if absolutely necessary.

Just think about it. When we take time to invest in ourselves and value our commitments to ourselves, how much more are we going to feel when we give ourselves to others. We need to be our best, to give our best. Fill your cup, so it overflows. I promise everything will be okay.

Keep focused on the present.

Keep giving. This is one of the harder things to do. If there’s one thing that’s proven true over the past few years, it is to give even when I feel like I have nothing to give. It could be giving a small dollar amount to a charity or helping a friend in need, even when I don’t quite have the energy. When I do it with kindness and from a place of gratitude I can step back, and experience true joy, purpose, and fulfillment.

When we are kind and can give in any capacity we are living with purpose and for something bigger than us.

Keep having fun and celebrate every day! You know this is one of my favorites. What do you do to have fun? What are some things you enjoy doing? What are some activities you can cross off your bucket list today? Whether you’re planning a full day out with the girls or having a team meeting, think about how you can make the experience fun and enjoyable for all, including yourself.

It could be as simple as playing your favorite song right when you wake up or doing a victory dance when you complete a task.

Keep a gratitude journal. Starting or ending your day with writing down things that you’re grateful for will help you focus on the good in your life. It will give you proof that your life and business are moving in the right direction.

Simply start with listing 1-3 things or give yourself 10 minutes to write down whatever you want. You’ll be surprised at what starts to come out.

Keep updating your process. Making our lives easier on a day to day basis is also a part of self-care. When our systems and processes are in place and things are streamlined, we can place more focus on the things we love to do, whether it’s working on a specific project, doing more personal growth activities or finally going on that vacation.

Keep finding new ways to love yourself! Never stop learning about yourself. Try new things. Get out of your comfort zone. Expand your horizons. You’re alive and that’s the perfect reason to live!

This is by no means a comprehensive list, but I really hope that you got inspired by some ideas of your own.

The world needs you and what you have to offer so take care of yourself, and live your best life, so you can help others do the same.

What does self-care look like for you these days?

Yes to all of them! You know how I’m a big advocate of self-care. I have a morning routine of mediation, journaling, prayer and a workout! Sets the day well for me. Right now I’m working on setting boundaries between work and family time. Thank you for the tips!

Hey, Elaine! Thanks so much for reading this. It means a lot. Yes, I love that you’re all about self-care. You do an amazing job of sharing resources. Thanks for sharing your routine, and for bringing up boundaries, this is also something I’m working on.
